‘People of Manchester: 2023’

An early study in connection and observation. This series marks a turning point in my photographic journey, when I began stepping out of solitude and into the shared rhythm of street life. People of Manchester 2023 is an exploratory body of work created at a time when I was testing the boundaries of my practice, learning how to see others not just as subjects, but as echoes of a city’s spirit.

Shot candidly in public spaces across Manchester, the images capture unposed moments of beauty, tension, stillness and motion. From everyday gestures to quiet expressions, the portraits reflect a city in constant flux: diverse, resilient, and deeply human.

This project was as much about expanding my visual language as it was about rebuilding trust- in strangers, in myself, and in the power of photography to connect us.
